Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or HBOT, is a medical treatment that enhances the body’s natural healing processes by increasing the circulating oxygen.  This is done with increased atmospheric pressure on the body and increased percentage of respiratory oxygen.

Under normal circumstances, oxygen is transported throughout the body by red blood cells with a tiny amount also dissolved in plasma, the liquid portion of the blood. When oxygen is delivered under pressure much greater amounts of oxygen are dissolved in plasma where it is more readily available for transfer to all of the tissues and fluids in the body, such as the central nervous system fluid, the lymphatic system, connective tissue, all solid organs, and bone. In the smallest blood vessels, plasma blood flow carries the increased oxygen to areas where circulation is diminished or blocked. In this way, adequate oxygen can reach all of the damaged tissues, especially those where healing is delayed or diminished. Once sufficient oxygen is delivered to these damaged tissues, the oxygen reduces swelling. This greatly enhances the ability of white blood cells to kill bacteria and stimulates new blood vessels to grow more rapidly into the affected areas.

LDA / LDI - immunotherapy

LDA (short for "low dose allergens", or ultra low dose enzyme activated immunotherapy) is a method of immunotherapy enhanced by a minute dose of the enzyme, beta glucuronidase (dose is 10-13).  The beta glucuronidase activates extremely miniscule doses of various allergens (10-6 to 10-17) and stimulates the production of T-suppressor cells, now called T Regulator (T Reg) cells.  These cells actively "switch off" helper cells that are erroneously causing patients to be ill by misidentifying normal substances in the body to be allergens.  T-cells may live for long periods of time in the bloodstream, so LDA needs to be administered only every 2 months at first, and then less often as time passes, generally with one to three tiny (1/20 c.c.) intradermal (in the first layer of skin) injections on the inner aspect of the forearm. Low-dose immunotherapy is an expanded application of LDA treatment for the resolution of allergies and select autoimmune disorders.

Lymphedema Therapy

Lymphedema Therapy, also known as Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) is now offered at Shalem Healing. It is used to treat Primary Lymphedema (congenital) and Secondary Lymphdedema (acquired due to damage to the Lymphatic System). CDT is also know to address concerns with swelling in extremities, vascular diseases like chronic venous insufficiency disease. Lymphedema therapy is a gentle noninvasive therapy. Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) consists of Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage, compression bandaging, remedial exercises, skin and nail care, and instructions in self care.. If you have been diagnosed with Lymphedema, Lipedema, have concerns with swelling in your upper and lower extremities, have had a previous or current diagnosis of Cancer and received radiation and/or had surgery to remove lymph nodes you may benefit from Lymphedema therapy. If you had surgery anywhere in your body that impacts the flow of the lymphatic system you may also benefit from Lymphedema therapy.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage is now offered at Shalem Healing. Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle, non-invasive massage for the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is part of your immune system and it is part of your body's defense against disease. The lymphatic system is important for keeping fluid balance in your body. It is very beneficial to moving your lymphatic fluid to assist with detoxing your body of toxins, bacteria, viruses and assists with overall improving immune health. MLD is beneficial for mold toxicity, Lyme disease, autoimmune disease, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammation, headaches, whiplash, sinusitis, allergies, post traumatic and post surgical edema. Lymphatic fluid usually flows at 10-12 bpm, but with MLD massage it increases to 100 bpm initially for the next 48 hours after your massage which assists in improving the body’s immune system. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) also assists with improving pain control, decreasing pain threshold response and decreasing overall inflammation in the body. MLD also assists with bringing clients out of the fight or flight stress response into a relaxed, calm state of being.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrated blood sample that contains high levels of platelets, a critical component of the wound healing process. Platelets contain growth factors that are responsible for stimulating tissue generation and repair.  Growth factors derived from platelets are responsible for soft tissue repair, bone regeneration, development of new blood vessels, and stimulation of the wound healing process. Harvest PRP delivers a concentration of autologous platelets and growth factors that is roughly 4-6 times greater than that found in whole blood. Unlike other products, it delivers a broad range of growth factors in the proper concentration and ratios to help optimize conditions for healing. Clinical studies have shown that application of PRP can help reduce bleeding, minimize pain, reduce infection rates, and optimize overall healing.  (http://www.harvesttech.com/harvest-prp)

Autologous stem cell concentration therapy- We utilize the PRP protocol listed above with 3 days of stem cell mobilization to allow for greater than 6 million stem cells in the final solution.  Stem cell levels are monitored utilizing flow cytometry in-office at Shalem Healing with a FACS Calibur flow cytometer.
