Cleansing and Detoxification

Why Cleanse?
Cleansing is an incredible means of treatment as well as prevention. Why do we clean our living space? Why do we clean our cars? Why do we take a shower? These are all means of keeping our external environment clean and healthy. The same should be applied to the inside of the body as well.
We are living in a time when we know how, based on scientific investigation, to cleanse the liver and intestines.
Cleansing dates back to Hippocrates, the "Father" of Modern Medicine. Enema's were a common means of treatment seeing as though the thought that "disease begins in the colon" was prevalent. It was the introduction of pharmaceuticals and poor laboratory investigations that slowly turned individuals away from cleansing.
I have heard the argument that the human body is made to deal with toxins so what's the basis for cleansing? If we lived in an environment that allowed our body's to rid itself of toxins faster than it accumulated them I would agree. But, our food supply is tainted, our water is tainted, our air is tainted, our emotions are bottled up, and our stress levels are ridiculously high. All of these lead to impaired toxin elimination.
Along with pollutants constantly coming into the body at unsafe levels most individuals have a poor diet. A poor diet, consisting of high protein, fat and sugar, puts stress on the intestines, liver, and the kidneys. This stress in time causes poor elimination of waste, which slowly wears away at the immune system.
Liver, Lymph, Gall Bladder and Intestinal Cleansing
To effectively cleanse one needs to use the necessary herbs and supplements as well as incorporate certain foods and then stay away from certain foods. Some people claim that you can eat whatever you want while supplementing to cleanse the body. This is absolutely positively no doubt about it ridiculous. Reducing the toxins coming in through the diet as well as foods that tax the internal organs more than others needs to be followed.
Cleansing the body takes discipline and the desire to be healthy. It's not always easy, but it's well worth it.
Cleansing programs should not be the same for everyone. For example: some people need to restrict sugars, even in the form of fruit, more than others. Some people need to start out slow due to a high level of toxicity to allow the body to "get ready to cleanse". Some people are ready to jump right in, or pour it right out!
Cleansing should really only be done with the
supervision of an experienced practitioner. While it is a wonderful tool
to aid the body in becoming healthy, it can also cause health problems if it is
not done properly.
