Acupuncture

An acupuncture treatment is a form of medicine that can be a combination of physical, psychological, and spiritual healing. In Chinese Medicine an illness occurs because there is an imbalance in the body. The imbalance can relate to a particular organ and/or meridian. It is not uncommon for a particular imbalance to be due to multiple organ involvement. For example: a patient can have digestive issues due to functional issues with the pancreas and liver.
Acupuncture, which is the use of fine needles inserted into the body, is used to bring the body back into balance by acting on the body's meridians. The meridian system is the Chinese Medical theory of how energy flows in the body. The meridians correspond to particular organs. Thus, by stimulating a particular meridian the Doctor can stimulate a particular organ.
For a treatment one is usually lying down either face up or face down. There is either little or no pain at the insertion of the needles. After the needles are inserted the patient lies with them in for approximately thirty minutes. Many people consider a treatment to be relaxing. Typically after a few treatments ones symptoms have lessened or have completely eliminated.
